As part of the core FABrIC project delivery team, the Senior Architect Advisor (Process Technologies) is responsible for identifying and working with potential FABrIC ultimate recipients (URs, industrial and academic) to identify and support the development of FABrIC challenge projects. The Senior Architect Advisor (Process Technologies) also maintains relationships with URs during the execution of challenge projects to facilitate collaborations and adoption of processes by the ecosystem. This position requires a current understanding of semiconductor process technologies including photonics, MEMS, compound semiconductors, quantum technologies, and related advanced packaging and test capabilities. This role engages directly with potential and approved URs, participates with them using a consultative problem-solving approach and involves and, as necessary, directs other employees to support UR needs. Reporting the the VP, FABrIC, the salary range for this position is $100k to $130k.
Requirements of the Role include:
- Responsible for surveying and documenting the current and planned availability of semiconductor process technologies (industrial profit and non-profit, and academic) in Canada and for identifying gaps in the supply chain for prototyping and low-mid volume manufacturing.
- Responsible for engaging with the Canadian ecosystem to provide information regarding FABrIC project challenge funding, partnership opportunities, project successes etc. (symposia, workshops, webinars etc.). In collaboration with the FABrIC team, responsible for developing the related materials and content to share with the ecosystem.
- Responsible for engaging with potential URs, providing them with information regarding FABrIC, developing an understanding of their manufacturing process capabilities, roadmaps, needs, and opportunities.
- With input from the FABrIC advisory committee, responsible for developing and maintaining a pipeline of potential challenge projects in alignment with the funding envelope of the overall FABrIC program.
- Provides technical support to URs in identifying and preparing project proposals for process development/challenge calls including process architecture, requirements, product applications, IP plan, business case, etc.
- Identifies and fosters matchmaking between URs (industrial and academic) to maximize impactful collaborations in challenge projects.
- In collaboration with IoT Technology Advisor/Architects and the FABrIC Advisory Committee, identify potential IoT challenges that leverage the outcomes of process challenge projects and foster collaboration and adoption of technologies by the UR’s where possible.
- Supports URs during execution of challenge projects and engages with the ecosystem to facilitate adoption of process technologies developed through FABrIC.
- Provides reporting and metrics on project pipeline, pipeline conversion, technology adoption.
- Seeks feedback from URs regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of the FABrIC challenge project process. In collaboration with the FABrIC team, recommends, develops, and implements plans for improving tools and processes for the development and submission of project proposals based on UR feedback.
Ideal Experience, Education and Skills include:
- Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication process technologies.
- An advanced degree in engineering or a related subject (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience with a strong background in marketing and/or product management in the semiconductor or a related sector.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Discipline to maintain accurate field notes, capturing ideas and requirements.
- Strong collaboration skills, ability to foster and sustain partnerships, develop trusting relationships.
- Strong project management skills, decision making regarding process/product development initiatives. The ability to deal with complex situations, involving assessment of multiple needs and priorities, business cases, and making decisions on best use of resources.
- Knowledge of database structures and marketing automation software functionality (e.g., Salesforce)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Bilingualism (English and French) would be considered a strong asset.
- An understanding of university research lab environments is an asset.
- Demonstrated client-focus and the ability to interpret and understand UR needs.
- Travel to URs, etc.
