We are looking for a Senior Scientific Staff with strong background in quantum computing to lead the development of quantum algorithms applications, support industrial and academic clients by developing quantum computing use cases. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of quantum computing principles, experience with client engagement, and a passion for advancing the field through both practical applications and research collaborations. Reporting to the Team Leader, Quantum Computing the compensation range for this position is 100k to 130k.
General Responsibilities
As a Senior Staff Scientist, Quantum Computing, you will play a vital role in the development of quantum algorithm solutions and activities to train industrial and academics partners. You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide scientific solutions for academic and industrial challenges in various fields: biology, chemistry, finance, machine learning, physics, among others. You must be able to create good working relationships with researchers from different technical fields, as well as with scientists and managers from industrial sectors
Specific Responsibilities
• Work with customers to identify, conceptualize and implement quantum computing solutions
• Provide technical support and expertise to clients throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure delivery of high-quality projects to clients
• Lead project teams, manage timelines, and ensure the successful delivery of client projects
• Provide documentation, train, and support users on a quantum computing platform
• Contribute to strategic planning and the development of the company’s quantum technology roadmap.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for clients and team members
• Stay updated on the latest advancements to inform company projects and strategies
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, innovative team environment
• Participate in outreach efforts including for various presentations, scientific and outreach events, networking within the quantum community
• Participate in the grant writing process for projects when required
Requirements
• Demonstrated education or training in quantum computing.
• Demonstrated software development skills, via GitHub and/or contributions to open-source projects, etc
• Demonstrated experience with one or more quantum programming languages Qiskit, Pennylane, Cirq, Forest, etc
• Demonstrated experience with one or more classical programming languages Python, C/C++, Julia, etc
• Experience with Qiskit pulse is an asset
• Outstanding teamwork skills
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with specialists and non-specialists
• Experience in supervising interns, junior team members and fostering collaborative environments.
• Self-motivated, proactive, demonstrate rigour, autonomy, dynamism, curiosity, excellent organizational skills and passionate about quantum computing
• Have very good knowledge of spoken and written English; French is an asset
• Have the ability to write clear, structured, and concise documents
• Be willing to work flexible hours during peak periods, availability for occasional travel
Qualifications Required
• Hold a masters or PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or any other relevant field with a solid background in quantum physics, quantum computing, and/or machine learning and/or high-performance computing
• Minimum 3 years of experience with proven track record of development of quantum algorithms.
• Development of quantum algorithms in an industry setting is an asset.
• Qiskit Certificate and participation in the Qiskit advocate program are an asset.
