A. Features of This Release

—————————

This PSA provides instructions on obtaining and installing the 2009.4

version of the Siemens Calibre verification tool. Calibre is

the tool that designers are required to use in certain design kits for

LVS (layout versus schematic) and DRC (design rule check) in order to

qualify designs for fabrication through CMC. For more information about

features of the Calibre tool that is available through Mentor’s Higher

Education Program, see http://www.mentor.com/company/higher_ed/index.cfm

CMC’s primary support will now be for the Calibre 2009.4 tool. CMC

will no longer support the Calibre 2008.3 tool.

E. Installation Instructions

—————————-

NOTES: The Calibre 2009.4 release requires about 2.3 GB of disk space.

You will need at least Solaris 8 to run the Calibre 2009.4 tool

(Solaris 2.6 or lower is not supported).

1. Logon as cmcmgr.

2. Move the zipped file into the Siemens tools directory

(/CMC/tools/mentor). If this directory does not exist you

will have to create it by entering:

cd /CMC/tools/mentor

Then move the file by entering:

mv calibre_2009.4_31.27.tar.gz /CMC/tools/mentor

3. Uncompress/unzip the stream by entering:

/bin/gunzip calibre_2009.4_31.27.tar.gz

4. After you have uncompressed the file, untar the file by typing:

/usr/local/bin/tar xfp calibre_2009.4_31.27.tar

Note that this will create a calibre_2009.4_31.27 directory

containing the Calibre software.

5. Once this is accomplished, create a symbolic link to the

calibre version as follows:

cd /CMC/tools/mentor

ln -s calibre_2009.4_31.27 calibre

6. Delete the tar file with the following **GNU** command:

cd /CMC/tools/mentor

rm -f calibre_2009.4_31.27.tar

7. Move the setenv.calibre.csh into the directory /CMC/scripts

mv setenv.calibre.csh /CMC/scripts

8. Installation is now complete.

F. User Instructions

——————–

1. Before starting Cadence, type the following in your Unix terminal:

source /CMC/scripts/setenv.calibre.csh

2. Viewing documentation for Calibre 2009.4.

The most relevant documentation for the general use of Calibre for DRC

can be found at:

/CMC/tools/mentor/calibre/CMCdir

of the more commonly used Calibre usage manuals are aliased within

the file sourced in step 1, and can be accessed as follows (assuming

you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed):

calbr_doc – opens the user guide (calbr_ver_user.pdf)

svrf_doc – opens the manual of rule formats (svrf_ur.pdf)

calbrdfm_doc – opens the DFM guide (calbr_dfm_gd.pdf)

xrc_doc – opens the xRC manual (xrc_user.pdf)
