The Aerotech ARMS200, available from the CMC Equipment Rentals, is a direct-drive, single-axis rotary motion simulator ideal for testing a variety of MEMS devices such as gyroscopes and accelerometers. The ARMS simulator comes with a Soloist HLe Controller and Linear Digital Drive unit. This combination of tools provides excellent velocity stability, high position resolution and accuracy, and superior angular rate and acceleration. The system is programmed and controlled from the host computer using Aerotech software (provided with the instruments when renting). Custom applications can be developed using NI Labview, C, and .NET.

The Agilent 346B is a general-purpose broadband noise source that eliminates the need for several sources at varying frequencies. Excess noise ratios for each 1 GHz interval from 10 MHz to 18 GHz are printed on the noise source. Low VSWR reduces uncertainty from the reflection of test signals. Useful for noise figure measurements using the Y-factor method.

The Agilent 8110A pulse generator can output pulses, digital patterns and three or four level signals. Load values other than the standard 50 Ω can be entered to display output values corresponding to the input load. Continuous, external triggered, external gain, external width or manual trigger modes. In the “external” modes the output pulse is enabled by an input signal’s transition, level (high or low), or period and width. The external input allows a maximum 15 Vpp signal and works from Vdc to 150 MHz.

The Agilent 8970B makes noise figure measurements in the 0 to 30 dB range. Measured noise can be displayed as noise figure or equivalent input noise temperature. Excess Noise Ratio (ENR) data can be entered in data tables on the noise figure meter. The meter uses this information to correct for ENR vs. frequency variations. The 8970B can be used with Agilent 346 (CMC loans the Agilent 346B Solid State Noise Source separately) or 347 noise sources.

The Agilent 81960A is a tunable C- and L-band compact tunable laser source, capable of fast bi-directional wavelength sweeping from to 1505 to 1630 nm. The laser has a rated output power of +6 to +14 dBm. It is configured with an angled polarization-maintaining fiber interface, and housed in an Agilent 8136B mainframe.

The 87405A Preamplifier is a multi-purpose instrument for any application that requires low noise and additional gain. The SNR of the final signal in an RF system is greatly impacted by the initial amplification of the signal and its original SNR. By having low noise figure in a preamplifier, the final signal will have a lower noise than without the preamplifier.

The Agilent DSAX91604A is a 16 GHz real-time oscilloscope with four analog channels. 256-level intensity-grading emphasizes signal anomalies by lightly-shading infrequent waveforms. Agilent DSA oscilloscopes come with 50 Mpts memory and built-in software (EZJIT, EZJIT Plus, EZJIT Complete, and Serial Data Analysis). The three EZJIT software packages provide jitter analysis capabilities and a jitter measurement floor of 100 fs. The equipped Infiniiscan option enables triggering on unique events such as zones on multiple channels and non-monotonic edges.

The Agilent DSOX3034A is a mixed-signal digital storage oscilloscope.  It may be used for general purpose capture, display and analysis of analog waveforms and digital signals.

The Agilent E4407B Spectrum Analyzer displays signals in the frequency domain to examine its spectral content. The analyzer is versatile and useful for harmonic and spurious content analysis, width of signals after modulation, noise figure measurements and other applications. The spectrum analyzer is equipped with free run, single, line, video, offset, delayed and external trigger modes.

The Agilent E5061B ENA Vector Network Analyzer provides analysis capabilities from 5 Hz to 3 GHz. The dual port configuration allows S-parameter testing. This model is also equipped with a gain-phase test port to provide direct receiver access from 5 Hz to 30 MHz. Built-in DC biasing can superimpose up to ±40 Vdc on the signal at port 1 or LF OUT port.

The Agilent N5182B MXG X-Series RF vector signal generator supports complex modulation formats such as QAM which are useful for digital communications. The N5182B can generate signals based on cellular/wireless connectivity standards such as LTE, GSM, and WiMAX. EXA X-Series Signal Analyzer available from the CMC test equipment pool is a versatile test system that allows you to analyze a variety of signals, from a single tone to complex, modulated tones. It has potential applications in many research areas, including RF/Microwave, mixed-signal design, MEMS, and biomedical. The analyzer comes with a number of automated software application suites, including signal vector analysis, phase noise, and noise figure measurements. The instrument runs Windows XP Pro operating system and features Agilent proprietary firmware. It can be accessed and programmed remotely via USB or LAN and is LXI Class C compliant.

The Agilent U2002A Average Power Sense offers power analysis up to 24 GHz and outputs from a USB connection. The U2002A is equipped with internal zeroing, preventing the user from having to power-off the DUT or disconnect the sensor between measurements. Calibration, temperature, and linearity correction data has been pre-entered on an internal EEPROM. Triggering can be derived internally from an RF signal or controlled externally via TTL input. The sensor can be rented alone or, if being used for source power calibration, with one of three Keysight PNA network analyzers also available from CMC’s Equipment Rental Program.

EVERBEING’s model C-2 portable probe station, with a 12.5” square footprint, is ideal for DC and RF applications for samples of 2″ or less.The C-2 probe station stands on four vibration absorbing feet and is suitable for portable use at a desk, workbench or placement into an environmental chamber. The station is equipped with a USB microscope and vacuum pump for the vacuum chuck. Currently supplied with DC needle probes and 4 positioners, it is set up for DC I-V measurements, diode and transistor characterization and 4-point probe impedance measurements. Options are available from the manufacturer to equip the probe positioners for RF measurements, but this is not currently supported at CMC.

This arbitrary waveform generator is capable of producing waveforms independently or synchronized on up to four output channels. Researchers can use the built-in basic waveforms or create their own and save it on a compact-flash card for recall. The sampling frequency is up to 100 MHz and the output ranges from 2.5 mV to 10 Vpp into for 50 Ohm loads at 12 bit resolution and 1-million points horizontal resolution per channel.

The Pico Plus infusion pump delivers low flow rates, either infusing or withdrawing fluid, at low to moderate back pressures. The device can hold any two syringes from 0.5 µl to 10 ml. The diameter and desired flow rate are entered via the keypad and stored in non-volatile memory. In the event of a power outage, the Pico Plus is equipped with “power failure mode” that allows the user to decide whether to turn the pump off or to resume pumping once power is restored. The pump can either operate in RATE mode, which continuously dispenses fluid at a specified rate, or the pump can release exact amounts of fluid in VOLUME mode.

The Keithley 2400 SourceMeter is designed for applications that rely on both precision sourcing and measuring. The device combines a 20 W, four-quadrant (source and sink) IV source with an IVR digital multimeter. The Keithley 2400 can perform linear, logarithmic, and custom sweeps for single-event or continuous operation. With 1pA current and 100nV voltage measurement resolutions, the Keithley 2400 is well-equipped for basic SMU test applications.

The Keithley 2602A is a two-channel source / measure Unit (SMU) that can source both voltage and current and perform accurate I/V (current vs. voltage) measurements. The integrated four-quadrant source enables a variety of measurement techniques that would otherwise require multiple instruments.

The Keysight Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) comes with a wide bandwidth for 5G research and offers full 6-port analysis. It can also be combined with multiple Keysight VNAs for MIMO research and includes an automated electronic calibration kit to simplify and speed the process of getting the correct measurements quickly. Also available from CMC, these VNAs can be used with a Keysight Materials measurement suite software (N5100A) and dielectric probe kit to allow for research in dielectric resonators and interfacing with biological systems. The VNA is housed in an 18-slot M9019A Gen 3 Chassis and uses an M9037A Controller with a swappable SSD drive.

The Keysight DCA-X mainframe from the CMC test equipment pool is part of a modular system for the analysis of time domain broadband signals up to 70 GHz. 86100D DCA-X mainframe can be configured by selecting from a variety of plug-in modules that perform precision optical, electrical, and TDR/TDT measurements.

The Keysight B2902A is a two-channel SMU capable of performing precise IV measurements and acting as an arbitrary waveform generator. The GUI offers four views: single channel, dual channel, graph, and roll (I-t or V-t curves). The B2902A supports four-quadrant measurements and standard built-in sweep procedures (linear, logarithmic, single and double sweep functions) DC or pulsed.

The E4990A Impedance Analyzer has a frequency range of 20 Hz to 120 MHz. The E4990A provides an industry best 0.045% (typical) basic accuracy over a wide impedance range, with a 40 V built-in DC bias source. The equivalent circuit analysis function supports seven different multi-parameter models and helps you to simulate your own equivalent parameter values of components.

The Agilent N5232B PNA-L Series Microwave Network Analyzer is a two-port test system capable of complete linear and non-linear characterization of RF and microwave devices.

The Keysight N5247B PNA-X Vector Network Analyzer available from the CMC Equipment Rental Program is a multi-function test system that allows you to perform a wide range of automated measurements on linear and non-linear RF devices such as amplifiers, mixers, and frequency converters.  The VNA provides 10 MHz to 67 GHz measurements on its own, and it now comes with a test controller and test heads to provide E-band testing from 60 to 90 GHz using coaxial and waveguide methods. The Semiprobe Probe Station with probe holders was tested to work with the frequency extension modules and can be reserved separately.

The Keysight FieldFox Combination Analyzer can be used with CMC’s Keysight Materials Meaurement Suite and Dielectric Probe Kit to test the permittivity of liquids and semi-solids up to 6.5GHz and using the coaxial probe method.  This unit may also be used as a standalone VNA for cable and antenna testing, and comes in a portable, robust, battery operated package & carrying case.  The unit’s included options allow for transmission/reflection measurements and time domain measurements.  Additional measurement personalities can be added upon request.

This Keysight RF PXI-express system chassis, is an 18-slot chassis with a high-speed controller (Intel i7 with 16GB RAM) and a variety of RF and FPGA cards.  The system includes a Vector Signal Analyzer (6.6GHz), a Vector Signal Generator (6 GHz with a reference frequency generator), DC power supply, digital I/O’s, Kintex-7 FPGA board, and several supporting accessories for a complete benchtop RF test environment.

The U5855A is ideal for predictive maintenance activities, from hot spot detection to thermal profiling. With this thermal imager, you get 320×240 Fine Resolution. Ability to magnify the thermal image of a far‑away object by 4 times to reveal finer details and quickly spot problems. Also, take thermal images of close-fit or minute components from as close as 10 cm away clearly and accurately.

The U5855A also comes with a variety of measurement and analysis tools to help you monitor temperature over time, do min and max temperature tracking and more so that you can easily obtain heat patterns, dissipation and etc. The U5855A comes with a built-in quick start tutorial to help you get familiar with thermal imager quickly.

What’s more, with the complimentary TrueIR Analysis and Reporting Tool, you can easily import, analyze and edit thermal images and quickly generate reports using ready templates. You can also display thermal images, visual images or thermal-visual images side-by-side for further analysis.

This software and hardware bundle automates permittivity and permeability measurements using the coaxial probe method in conjunction with a Keysight network analyzer such as a CMC loanable Keysight FieldFox portable RF Analyzer or the 26GHz Keysight M9375A multiport VNA. The Materials Measurement Suite is used to control the analyzer and measure the material’s response to radio frequencies from 10MHz to 50GHz depending on the combination of analyzer and probes used.

This amplifier provides up to 16 W saturated output power over more than an octave up to 4 GHz. The amplifier is equipped with an automatic shutdown that is triggered if temperatures exceed +85°C. To avoid damage in the presence of an open or short circuit, the amplifier includes protective internal circuitry. The device is useful for a variety of applications from communications to test and measurement systems.

The Keysight DCA-X mainframe from the CMC test equipment pool is part of a modular system for the analysis of time domain broadband signals up to 70 GHz. 86100D DCA-X mainframe can be configured by selecting from a variety of plug-in modules that perform precision optical, electrical, and TDR/TDT measurements.

This amplifier has a gain of 35dB over 1 to 2 GHz of operation with a noise figure of 5dB and comes with SMA connectors and requires a 15V power supply.

This system is an integrated, modular instrument with LabVIEW-based simulation/test environment which enables faster RF test and validation setup and experimental results.

The SA2500X Probe has 2.5 GHz bandwidth and is system-independent, capable of plugging into any 50Ω-coupled BNC port. The probe tip housing is slim, allowing for multiple simultaneous measurements. This probe is typically loaned with the PXIe-5162 oscilloscope module in the Keysight M9019A PXIe Gen 3 Chassis.

The Ocean Optics USB4000 VIS-NIR ES is a miniature plug-and-play optical spectrometer suitable for laboratory benchtop analysis and characterization of fluidic and gaseous media. This instrument performs automated absorption and transmission testing across a wavelength range extending from visible to near IR wavelengths. It is equipped with a high-power broadband optical source (top left in the photo below) and standard optical fibre-based fixture to focus and collect light into a standard 3-ml sample holder (cuvette system, at bottom right). Its small form factor and standard USB interface make it easy to incorporate into your lab’s characterization set-up. You may use Ocean Optics’ LabView-based software development tools to enhance or adapt the spectrometer’s control and analysis user interface to your own system prototyping needs. The USB4000 is fully compatible with the CMC Microsystems Integration Platform (MIP).

The Ossila Four-Point Probe system is a compact, single-unit probing device designed for measuring sheet resistance, resistivity and conductivity. The probe tips are spring-loaded to avoid scratching the surface of samples. Software and drivers are provided on a USB stick. The software requires a few simple inputs and calculates the sheet resistance, and optionally, conductivity and resistivity of a material with a known thickness.

These Quater Research manipulators, model 500 XYZ TIM, are a pair of positioners used for probing bare die, MEMs and microfluidics devices.

The RF Bay MPA-22-30 is a power amplifier with a 30 dB gain and 30 MHz to 2.2 GHz frequency range. The amplifier requires a single 12 VDC power supply and has SMA connectors.

The Rohde & Schwarz SMB100A is a radiofrequency generator with a range of 100 kHz to 40 GHz in a high-output power configuration capable of providing up to 16 dBm.

The Rohde & Schwarz RTO1044 oscilloscope available from the CMC test equipment pool provides excellent signal fidelity and a high acquisition rate. The RTO1044 offers four analog channels and it comes with a range of automated measurements including: jitter analysis, eye diagrams and spectral analysis on microelectronic devices and systems.

The Rohde and Schwarz ZNB20 is a 2-port Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) with a measurement range of 100 kHz to 20 GHz. Using this instrument, you can perform a wide range of tests, including reflection parameter measurements and network modelling, involving bare die to complete subsystems.

The Semiprobe LA-150 Probe Station includes a large platen suitable for 6” or 150mm wafers or smaller fragments and packages for test. The system includes 100x zoom stereo optics and the fine movement in X&Y is 25mm while in Z it is 20mm. Theta movement is 360 degrees with fine theta in the 10 degree range. This station was originally purchased for use as part of a 90GHz VNA test solution and as such, comes with probe holders compatible with the 60-90GHz VDI Mini VNAX frequency extension modules. This Probe station has been tested with the Keysight N5292A test controller, VDI Mini VNAX frequency extension modules, and Keysight N5247B 67GHz VNA.

The Stanford Research SR620 is an interval timer and frequency counter capable of measuring signals from 0.001 Hz to 1.3 GHz. The device is equipped with a graphical output that can be displayed on an oscilloscope and interchanged between a histogram, strip chart of mean values, and jitter. Up to one million samples are used to automatically calculate mean, standard deviation, Allan variance, or minimums and maximums. The input impedance is configurable to either 1 MΩ or 50Ω and supports AC or DC coupling. In frequency counter mode, the SR620’s input sensitivity is 60 mV from 1 to 40 MHz. CMC’s SR620 is equipped with Option 01, which uses an ovenized VCXO timebase.

The SR720 LCR Meter measures major (L, C, R) as well as minor (Q, D, R) parameters of passive components with 0.05 % accuracy. The meter can perform measurements at five fixed test frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 100 kHz and adjustable amplitudes from 0.1 to 1.0 Vrms. The device accepts up to 40 Vdc external biasing if the built-in 2 Vdc is insufficient for a measurement. Included in this rental package is an SR728 BNC adapter for connecting remote fixtures and other equipment. Three binning schemes (pass/fail, overlapping, and sequential) are useful for ensuring that groups of components have the same parameter values that are listed on their specification sheet within a programmable error. Computer control is enabled through an RS-232 or GPIB connection.

Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) is an important analytical technique used in biochemistry. The technique may be used to detect the presence and assess the concentration of many biochemical materials which are selectively tagged with a fluorophore which emits visible radiation under suitable optical excitation. The LIF module offered by CMC consists of a microscope manufactured by Starlight Technical.

The Tabor 9400 is a general-purpose high voltage amplifier. It has two modes of operation, allowing for versatile measurement applications. The bipolar mode amplifies the input signal and delivers it to the output terminal of the same channel, modifying only its amplitude. The unipolar mode converts the amplifier to a one-input, two-output system.

The DPO4054B Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope is a 500 MHz four-channel instrument capable of recording up to 20 million points. To navigate through recorded data, installed Wave Inspector software provides zoom and panning features. Waveform intensity grading thickens and brightens frequently captured signals and by contrast, emphasizes dark, thin waveforms representing anomalies. The oscilloscope is shipped with a Tektronix P6139A 10x Passive Probe and 4 Tektronix P2221 200 MHz 1x/10x Passive Probes. NI LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition LE is accessible through a USB connection from a PC to the oscilloscope.

The Tektronix DPO77002SX is a single-channel 70 GHz, 200 GS/s oscilloscope for applications such as RF analysis or pulsed laser studies. Using Tek’s ATI (Asynchronous Time Interleaving) architecture, the scope achieves 70 GHz single-channel bandwidth at 200 GS/s (5 ps/Sample). The scope can be configured for two channels at 33 GHz.

The MSO2024B offers four 200-MHz analog and 16 digital channels for complex design analysis. The Intensity Grading feature displays uncommon anomalies in lighter tones differentiating them from expected waveforms. The “Wave Inspector” feature is composed of separate zoom and pan knobs to navigate the oscilloscope’s one million point record length. Digital ones and zeros are color coded green and blue respectively to ensure that flat traces are distinguishable. White edges indicate multiple logic transitions, suggesting that using a higher sample rate for the next acquisition will unveil more information. CMC’s MSO2042B Oscilloscope has a DPO2COMP application module installed which enables computer analysis and serial triggering via RS-232/422/485/UART buses. Included is a Tektronix P6316 Digital Probe with 8 pF capacitive loading and 101 kΩ input impedance.

Tektronix’s TriMode Probes can perform differential, single-ended and common mode measurements with a single probe. The P7504 operates over 4 GHz bandwidth and uses a TekConnect interface which is specific to Tektronix DPO/DSA/MSO70000 and TDS6000B/C oscilloscopes. CMC rents 2 Tektronix DPO73304SX 33 GHz Real-Time Oscilloscopes. The P7504 TriMode Probe can be bundled with this oscilloscope if additional probes to the recommended P7633 33 GHz TriMode Probe are required for your testing. Included in the P7504 Probe Kit is a TriMode Accessory Kit with solder tips, solder, wire, adhesive strips, and marker bands.

The Equipment Rental Pool has a Browser with a heavy mass base to hold probes of various sizes steady. This kit comes with screw-type trim controls for x, y, and z directions, an articulating arm and eight adapters to hold various probes in place.

The RSA507A is a ruggedized portable real-time spectrum analyzer that comes with analysis software and a laptop. The analysis software, SignalVu-PC, is similar to that running on Tektronix’s other spectrum analyzers and it includes an API for those interested in more control over their analysis and experiments.

The Tektronix TDS3052B DPO (Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope) has a 5 GS/s sample rate across a 500 MHz bandwidth. The Intensity Grading feature darkens and thickens lines representing signals that have been continuously captured. In addition, the “WaveAlert” feature detects signal anomalies and can notify users by stopping acquisitions, beeping, or saving waveforms. This allows tests to run unmonitored over long periods of time. CMC’s TDS3052B has been equipped with TDS3TRG Advanced Trigger, TDS3FFT FFT, and TDS3AAM Advanced Analysis modules.

The thinkRF R5500-427 Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer (RTSA) is a high-performance RF receiver, digitizer and analyzer. With software-defined RF receiver technology, the RTSA provides combined sensitivity, tuning range, instantaneous bandwidth (IBW) and scan rate for characterizing signals from 100 kHz to 27 GHz, captured over a period of time.

CMC Microsystem’s Toptica DL Pro Laser offers 30 to 50 GHz mode-hop free tuning and alignment free operation. The laser is equipped with a Toptica FiberDock for FC/APC connections. A mainframe is included with modules for diode laser control, current control, temperature control, and high-voltage scanning.

This set of WR-90 waveguides allows researchers to experiment within the 8.2 GHz to 12.4 GHz range and is compatible with a variety of instruments. Calibration constants are provided on a USB key for Agilent/Keysight 872x, Keysight PNA and Rohde & Schwarz ZVA/B series of network analyzers. Clients may separately rent CMC’s Keysight 8722, and PNAs N5232B, N5242B, and N5247B VNAs to use with these waveguides.
